A FULL SUMMER IN THE TATRAS: Where to go and what to experience?

After an eight-month break, the winter closure of the high mountain hiking trails ends, during which nature had time to regenerate and animals had time for a quiet winter season. From June onwards, you can go on your favourite hikes without restrictions and experience the Tatra Mountains in their full summer glory.</div>

<div><strong>The trail is open all year round </strong>- in summer it offers a refreshing view of <strong>a waterfall up to 25 metres high</strong>, in winter it turns into an impressive icefall that literally takes your breath away.</div>

<div><strong>Follow the yellow trai</strong>l towards the cable car and the ski area, from where you continue on a gentle climb through forest and slash and burn to <strong>the Mlynick&aacute; dolina.</strong> The Mlynick&yacute; potok will accompany you on your right, the Solisko ridge will appear on your left, and Patria and Mal&aacute; Ba&scaron;ta on your right. <strong>After about 1.5 hours of relaxed walking</strong>, you will come directly under the waterfall, which visually stands out in the open space. <strong>The surrounding area also offers plenty of space for a rest or picnic.</strong></div>

A stay in this iconic Villa offers more than just accommodation. It is a return to the days when Dr. Mikulas Szontagh the Elder laid the foundations of a therapeutic alpine resort with a worldwide reputation. In 1876, the first sanatorium was established, which helped many patients suffering from tuberculosis and respiratory diseases thanks to its climatic treatment.

 

Nový Smokovec, which was also founded in 1876, was not only a place of treatment, but also a symbol of Dr. Szontagh&#39;s innovative thinking. His vision significantly changed the Tatra Mountains. Later, Mikuláš Szontagh the Younger was a continuation of his father&#39;s activities, in 1914 he expanded the Villa into the present "Villa Dr. Szontagh". Szontagh the younger also participated in the further significant development of Nový Smokovec and the construction of cure-houses due to the critical boom of tuberculosis in Europe.

 

A legacy that lives on
